Abstract:
Long Steps, which is located on Government House Hill, near Hotel 1829 is one of the earliest "step streets." They exist throughout Charlotte Amalie, but this one has 102 steps. It was sited in Ripley's Believe It or Not, and was among the first postcards by cruise ships to promote the U.S. Virgin Islands. These steps were built by African Danish stone masons, some of whom were sent to Denmark to work there craft.
